The Review Process

All submitted expectations are reviewed according to a standardized process. Reviews take 15 to 30 business days. This timeline is itself reasonable.

1

Submission

You submit your expectation using the online form. Describe what you expect to happen, in what timeframe, and under what conditions. Be specific. Vague expectations receive vague determinations.

2

Classification

The expectation is assigned to a review officer and classified by category: professional, personal, institutional, timeline-based, or outcome-based.

3

Assessment

The review officer assesses the expectation against documented outcomes in similar situations, industry benchmarks where applicable, and the Department's internal database of 14,200 prior determinations.

4

Determination

A Determination of Reasonableness is issued with a rating on the Reasonableness Scale (1-5), an adjusted expectation, and supporting rationale.

5

Delivery

The determination is mailed to the address on file and emailed to the address provided. The mailed copy arrives later. It is the official copy.
